From neighbors to a Northwest suburbs crew

Niko Thoma and Alex Rider-Leiner grew up a few doors down from each other in Mount Prospect. They started picking up yard work together after high school, and in 2023 that grew into A&N Outdoor Services.

Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Palatine, and the rest of the Northwest suburbs are still home, and it’s where we do our work.

The work breaks down into four parts: design, build, maintain, and snow. Design means landscape plans built around how a yard actually gets used. Build covers paver patios, retaining walls, sod and planting installs, all done by our own crews. Maintain is lawn care, cleanups, and the seasonal maintenance plans that keep a yard looking right from April through November. Snow is residential and commercial snow removal, so the same crew that built your yard clears it in January too.

Our crews are led by experienced foremen who bring decades of combined experience and know how local soil, grading, and weather actually behave in the Northwest suburbs.

We’re licensed and insured. If you’ve seen our trucks around the neighborhood, there’s a good chance we’ve already worked on a yard near yours.

They transformed our entire backyard: from removing our old patio to installing a new concrete patio and gazebo to fresh sod, a shed, and a new fence installation. They also arranged for our AC to be relocated and electrical outlets to be installed in the gazebo.

The entire team worked incredibly hard, was always on time, and was very friendly and approachable. They were always happy to answer our questions, and the quality of their work was excellent. The gazebo installation, resod, and all the other details came together beautifully. All the subcontractors we worked with were wonderful too.

A special thank you to Nico, who did a fantastic job coordinating all the subcontractors, permits, and logistics. Everything was so well organized so we didn't have to worry about a thing. The office staff were also extremely responsive and helpful whenever we had questions.

The aftercare has been exceptional! The team followed up multiple times to see how everything was going and whether we had any issues. Whenever we brought something to their attention, they were happy to arrange a visit to check it out. It’s reassuring to know that the support doesn’t stop once the project is finished!

I finally decided to take the chance with A&N, and honestly, I was blown away by the results.

They did a fantastic job — period. They went above and beyond with their service, attention to detail, and execution. Both our front and back yards turned out so great that it genuinely feels like we have a new home.
